Argyll & Bute Professional Lead for Radiography/Team Lead Lorn & Islands Hospital
An opportunity has arisen within the Radiology Department for the permanent Lead Radiographer position.
Lorn & Islands Hospital is a modern, well-equipped hospital situated in Oban on the stunning West Coast of Scotland. Ferry links can transport you easily to Mull or the more distant islands. This is an area of outstanding natural beauty with countless leisure activities, good schools and a strong sense of community.
Radiology is an extremely busy department, that comprises of CT, X-Ray. Ultrasound, fluoroscopy and some interventional services.
The Lead Radiographer post is an integral role within the Unit and is essential for providing support for both the staff and the service, looking to maintain quality and high standards of patient care. This is an excellent development opportunity.
The Lead Radiographer leads, manages, develops and has responsibility for the Radiology Team in order to deliver high standards of care with the appropriate skills, using available resources effectively.
Working with a small team of radiographers, sonographers and one Consultant Radiologist based in the Lorn and Islands Hospital in Oban, you will be expected to provide operational and professional management locally, whilst also providing professional leadership to smaller rural radiology departments at a further 6 community hospital sites across Argyll and Bute.
You will have robust clinical skills and knowledge, a commitment to life-long learning/teaching and an enthusiastic and innovative approach to service development.
Evidence of professional development is essential with experience of similar roles highly desirable.
You will be expected to produce a short presentation at interview (no longer than 10 minutes) – in a format of your choice – there will be intranet/email access, USB sticks must be NHS approved and encrypted.
