NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.
This is a fulltime post of 37.5 hours per week with a shift pattern of Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm.
The NHS GGC Workforce Employability Team has an exciting opportunity for someone to join our team as a Workforce Employability Officer supporting our delivery within the NHSGGC Workforce Strategy.
As part of our team, the post holder will have a key role in widening access to employment activity. This includes review, development and implementation of programmes to promote NHSGGC job opportunities and career pathways, develop and oversee new initiatives to support people from our local communities into NHS GGC employment and to develop the capacity of internal and external stakeholders to support local communities with NHS relevant employability interventions.
The duties will be varied, stimulating and rewarding and will involve activity across a broad range of NHS GGC services. It requires someone with a genuine interest in opening up NHS careers to those who may not have considered the NHS as a career destination, or who may be facing barriers to employment. The role requires someone with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, an ability to work effectively with a range of internal partners and stakeholder organisations whose behaviours and attitudes reflect NHS values and a genuine passion for widening access to the NHS workforce.
Applicants should be educated to degree level or have demonstrable equivalent experience in employability and/ or NHS experience. It is desirable that you have knowledge and experience of NHS recruitment practices, an insight into NHS career pathways and workforce skills demands. An understanding of barriers to employment and local and national employability strategies is also important. Applicants are required to have high-level administration and IT skills, adhere to reporting deadlines and strict compliance procedures.
