This is an exciting time to co-ordinate Major Trauma rehabilitation services for NHS Borders and join a close network of staff delivering integrated services including AHP’s, Clinical Psychology, General Surgeon, Orthopaedic Surgeon, Geriatrician, Anaesthetist, Auditor, ED Consultant and SAS.

The team are nominated finalists in the category of Integrated care in the 2023 Scottish Health Awards and seek to sustain this standard of practice.

Close links are in place locally with Major Trauma clinical leads and with co-ordinators across the South East network and nationally. Excellent access to training opportunities are present across the network.

The post holder will ensure that Major trauma services continue the ethos to deliver care in a timely fashion and where needed and hence the team inreach into the acute pathway based at Borders General Hospital and out into the community setting to establish best patient outcomes and efficient discharge planning to reduce length of stay. Ensuring rapid repatriations requires the post holder to be able to manage rapidly changing workload and priorities whilst achieving KPI’s.

The post holder will play a key leadership role to improve the quality of healthcare experience and the development of services and a proportion of the role will be sustaining statistical information and presenting at local and national level. The post holder is required to communicate with a large number of people at local & national level and engage with senior managers, practitioner and clinicians across NHS Borders and partner agencies.
