 Post Title:              Senior Commodity Officer (Graduate Entry Programme) - Trainee Annex 21  (2 posts)

Salary Range:      £30,229 – 37,664 per annum (Trainee Annex 21, 70% of full salary) (pro rata for part-time)

NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde is the largest Health Board in Scotland and has a trade spend with third party suppliers of approximately £811m with the Procurement Department providing a comprehensive procurement and logistics service for all Health Board functions. We are pleased to offer two Procurement Graduate Trainee posts for qualified graduates who wish to develop a career in Public Procurement.

This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to join our organisation on a 2-year (23 month) fixed term contract.

Both  roles are part of a new Graduate Trainee Scheme within NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde Procurement Department designed to provide the post holder with the necessary knowledge, skills and experience to meet the Developing / Working Knowledge standard within the Scottish Procurement Competency Framework.

The post holder will be recruited against our Agenda for Change  Band 5 ( £ 30,229-£37,664)  Senior Commodity Officer Job Description under the Agenda for Change Trainee Annex 21  arrangements whereby they will be paid 70% of the salary associated with this grade during the fixed term contract.

The post holder will undertake a range of tasks and projects within a specific team within Procurement Department with appropriate work assigned to ensure a wide a varied experience of all aspects of procurement. Throughout the programme, post holder will be coached and mentored by more senior members of the team.

The post holder will be expected to undertake the CIPS Level 4 Diploma in Procurement & Supply and work towards achievement of the Diploma by the end of the fixed term contract. This will be funded by the Procurement Department.

In addition, there will be one day external training courses on key aspects of public procurement. The post holder will have a minimum 2:2 honours degree in any discipline and will demonstrate a genuine enthusiasm for developing a career in procurement.

Whilst we cannot guarantee a permanent post at the end of the fixed term contract, this entry route provides an opportunity for recently qualified graduates to gain exposure to public procurement, training, experience, academic learning and opportunities to apply for permanent roles which may emerge within the Health Board Procurement team, or if not available, wider public and private sector procurement environment. Long term career prospects within the health and wider public sector are generally very positive.
