The Glasgow Clinical Research Facility incorporates Clinical Research Facilities at the QEUH/RHC and GRI. With satellite units at the Royal Alexandra Hospital, Gartnavel General Hospital and the Dental Hospital. Jointly they provide a streamlined service to investigators to conduct their clinical research efficiently and safely. Glasgow Clinical Research Facility (CRF) are recruiting an innovative and visionary Research Nurse Manager to provide leadership and clinical research expertise to support the Clinical Research Facility (CRF) teams across NHS GG&C in delivering a high standard of care to study participants.
As a Research Nurse Manager you will be expected to implement management strategies and initiate processes and systems to facilitate the development of the Clinical Research Facility. The Research Nurse Manager may also be required to act as lead nurse for an agreed number of studies supported by the GCRF with responsibility for study management and study specific staff training, ensuring compliance with the protocol, sponsor and Clinical Trials Unit Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), clinical trial regulations, research governance and GG&C policies. You will also lead, develop and implement, in collaboration with the research team, a recruitment plan to identify, consent and retain study participants. Regular written and verbal reports on GCRF activity and development will also be required to be provided.
The Research Nurse Manager will manage resources to support clinical research activity to meet objectives agreed by Glasgow CRF and Research & Innovation (R&I) senior management team. They will liaise with the national research teams and organisations contributing to the development of collaborative working practices.
Minimal requirements:
• Registered Nurse with appropriate current relevant post-registration experience in the acute care setting.
• Minimum requirement of first level degree with evidence of continuing personal development.
• Experience in managing clinical research projects including both academic and commercial CTIMPs and non-CTIMP studies.
• Evidence of highly developed clinical and technical skills with the ability to support, train, supervise and mentor research staff.
• Management experience with the ability to manage, motivate and develop staff would be desirable.
• Personal development in research or relevant area e.g. project management, including current working knowledge of GCP, regulatory legislation and research frameworks.
• Ability to prioritise own and staff workload to achieve agreed timelines, quality standards and targets.
• Experience of producing written reports, SOPs, templates and presentations.
• Ability to use Microsoft Office, research web-based systems and databases proficiently and effectively in the workplace.
