What is Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy?
Musculoskeletal (MSK) physiotherapy is the assessment and rehabilitation of people who have physical symptoms affecting the soft tissues, bones and joints. These conditions can have a significant negative impact on a person’s ability to manage day to day activities and reducing their quality of life.
Have you got people skills, motivation and a desire to help people reach their maximum physical potential? Do you have a background in rehabilitation, sport or the caring professions, or have a passion to learn and grow a career in health care? Are you organised and have a keen eye for detail?
If so, we can support and develop you to work as part of the Physiotherapy Team, to work alongside the Physiotherapists, to manage a caseload of MSK patients and provide invaluable support to the smooth running of the department. Our support workers are essential to the quality and sustainability of the service.
Previous experience working with people with MSK conditions, or working in a healthcare, patient support, or exercise environment is desirable. If you are motivated, possess excellent leadership potential and communication skills, know how to relate to people and have a willingness to be an active team player and are keen to make a difference to the lives of others, we would be interested to hear from you.
Our support worker team in MSK Physiotherapy also links with staff in Learning Disabilities and Children and Young people teams, and we plan to further develop the support worker role in the Service.
We would like to help grow the support worker role as the service continues to develop. Whilst the majority of the Service is based around the Kirkcaldy and Dunfermline areas, the opportunity to travel around Fife and work in various settings is available and may be required.
If, like us, you are keen to put the patient at the centre of care and seek a career with development opportunities please contact us. We can provide a stimulating and learning working environment, with regular in-service training, peer review, mentorship and varied experiential opportunities at all levels. We will support your Continuing Professional Development (CPD), participation in service evaluations, clinical audits, and practice development networks. You will also be well supported by our team of experienced Advanced Practice Physiotherapists and a Consultant Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist.
Fife provides a unique location to live and work, sitting between the two major cities of Edinburgh and Dundee, with access to beautiful countryside and coastline locally. The Highlands and the majority of the countries’ population are within an hour and a half drive from central Fife.
For informal enquiries, please contact our Operational Lead MSK Physiotherapists, Mark Fargie (mark.fargie@nhs.scot) or Morag Watson (morag.watson5@nhs.scot), who would be happy to chat to you
Please note that part time posts are pro rata.
A requirement of this post is to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme Prior to appointment.
