Do you have extensive experience in Maternity Services and want to support and facilitate education/learning within the service as part of the Practice Education & Development Team? We are seeking a motivated, innovative Registered Midwife to be part of the Maternity Practice Education & Development Team. 

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Band 7 Practice Educator post - a permanent position 0.5 WTE. The Practice Educator is an integral role within NHS Highlands Maternity services infrastructure. The post holder will ensure access to learning and development resources directly relevant to clinical care closer to where midwives, medical teams and our partners practice. We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated registered midwife educator to provide visible and sustained educational leadership, working collaboratively across NHS Highland (North).

Joining a highly dynamic education team within NHS Highland you will be educated to Masters level or equivalent, and have experience within an education, teaching or facilitation role.  Expertise related to education is therefore a requirement for this post.

The post-holder should have excellent care values, enthusiasm to work as part of a team and the motivation to learn and develop self and colleagues within an exciting and challenging high-pressure environment. We are looking for someone who is dynamic and forward thinking in their approach and focused on providing safe, effective, person-centred practice.

Applicants should be a Registered Midwife with full current UK NMC registration and;

  • have extensive experience in Maternity Services;
  • have extensive experience at Band 6 or above in posts which included supporting, supervising and assessing learners;
  • be a current Practice Supervisor/Practice Assessor;
  • be able to demonstrate the ability to motivate and influence change, using highly developed interpersonal and diplomacy skills;
  • have previous teaching experience with involvement in developing and using educational resources.

You will be committed to multi-professional approaches to education and have a proven track record in negotiating, influencing and managing people.

You should be able to demonstrate flexibility, high-level communication skills and a commitment to collaborative working across organisational boundaries. Travel across North Highland will be required. 

It is planned to hold the interviews on Wednesday 10th January in Inverness.
