An experienced dietitian is required for a key operational management and professional leadership role within the children’s dietetic service, within Combined Child Health.
The dietetic team comprises 7.5 wte staff who are based in the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital. The children’s hospital provides services for children from birth to school leaving age within Grampian and the wider North East of Scotland, both as a secondary care and tertiary service, covering the majority of specialties. The staff are a highly experienced, innovative, flexible and supportive team.
The dietetic service works closely with medical and nursing colleagues and the other allied health professional (AHP) disciplines, including physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech and language therapy, to provide a cohesive and co-ordinated children’s service; the successful candidate will be accountable to the lead allied health professional within Combined Child Health. There is excellent team working with other dietetic services across NHS Grampian and the North of Scotland and the successful candidate will be expected to engage with relevant national and international groups, as well as working nationally with specialist, multi-disciplinary teams.
Applicants must be a qualified, HCPC registered dietitian, with significant professional experience, as well as having a management qualification or equivalent team lead experience. He / she should be able to demonstrate effective leadership eg of teams and projects, have experience of service development and improvement, as well as excellent communication skills. An awareness of policy and practice issues relevant to the children’s agenda and to children’s dietetics is essential.
The post also has the potential to be combined with other clinical duties within the service, depending on the expertise of the successful applicant.
