Job Advert

NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.

We are delighted to offer a permanent post for a Band 4 AHP Support Worker to work with us in community rehabilitation.

This post will be within the adult Community Rehabilitation Team, Dundee which is based across two sites, Royal Victoria Hospital and Dundee & Angus Independent Living & Community Equipment Centre.

This role will involve Occupational therapy and Physiotherapy assessment and rehabilitation of non-complex clients, and contribute to discharge planning and onward referral of your own caseload, as well as undertaking administrative duties. You will be supported to develop your knowledge and skills and be responsible for maximising the functional potential of clients, and receive training for the role.

You will work with a friendly and hardworking interdisciplinary team providing therapy interventions and support to adults within their own home and community. This may include a range of conditions such as orthopaedic and neurological conditions, vascular, amputations, rheumatology conditions, and falls. As an integrated service we also work closely with other sectors and agencies, offering a broad range of experiences and enhancement of knowledge.

Dundee is a dynamic, vibrant city famous for being UNESCO city of design and home to the V&A. It has great transport links and is in the perfect location for visiting Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow whilst also benefiting from being on the beautiful east coast.

Previous experience within a care setting is essential and successful candidates must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Teamwork is also an essential component of this post. IT skills are desirable but training is available as there will be some responsibility for patient administration within the Community Rehabilitation Team.

Ability to travel is essential due to the nature of this role.

Currently there is no weekend working at Community rehabilitation, however, in line with the evidence base and the strategic direction of NHS Tayside, the Allied Health Professions may be moving towards 7 day working. This is for improved patient outcomes and to maximise a person-centred equitable approach to care. Therefore, all new contracts for AHP staff will be for a 5 out of 7 days service / rota to enable the service to be ready to potentially move to a safe and effective 7-day service. Hours of work are: 37.5 per week (full time).

Your performance must comply with the national “Mandatory Induction Standards for Healthcare Support Workers 2009” and with the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers.

Informal visits are welcome, so please get in touch.
