NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.
The shift pattern is Monday-Friday 9.00-17.00 (37.5 hours).
We are looking for someone who is committed to working in a demanding but enjoyable finance role in the NHS. A key member of the Glasgow City HSCP finance team, you will have reporting responsibilities for a variety of complex and interesting service areas and will assist in the provision of a professional financial management service to HSCP stakeholders. You will work closely with dedicated service managers who are committed to making a difference, learn how a complex integrated Health & Social Care Partnership works and have the opportunity to develop a range of transferrable skills.
Knowledge, training and experience required:
- Degree and Diploma level of a nationally recognised professional accountancy qualification or equivalent experience is essential.
- At least three years experience in the finance department of a complex organisation, including staff training responsibilities.
- In depth specialist and practical knowledge of the NHS Finance Regime e.g. National Costing and Research and Development requirements
- Demonstrable experience in management accounting and specialist knowledge in financial and accounting procedures is essential. e.g. understanding of VAT, Standing Financial Instructions, procurement and payment systems, pay analysis, Terms and Conditions of Service and budget setting.
- A good working knowledge of financial computer systems and ledgers including coding structures.
- Advanced PC skills are required, especially in the use of financial computer systems and Microsoft Office.
- Experience should include:
- working autonomously to manage own workload and change priorities as necessary to achieve key tasks
- communicating complex or contentious information to a range of different audiences using a range of different communication methods
- requirement for flexible approach to fulfil the duties in an environment with ever changing and/or conflicting priorities
