A vacancy has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated experienced Locum Staff Grade in General Adult Psychiatry who may wish to also be considered for a Locum Consultant to join our medical team and play a key role in supporting the local CMHT. The post would be 2 years fixed-term in the first instance.
The role would be suitable for an experienced senior clinician who is not as yet on the Specialist register with the GMC but would be interested in working within an RMO role either for experience or as part of gaining evidence as part of a CESR application. Whilst Ayrshire & Arran has yet to develop specific CESR posts, there are a number of colleagues locally in the process of considering this route to Specialist Registration and several consultants have applied to the Royal College of Psychiatrists as CESR trainers.
This is a full-time community post (10 PAs) with option of compressed hours and this is well supported locally. The successful candidate will join the Consultant-led South Ayrshire community mental health teams based at Ailsa Hospital in Ayr. The role will be community based only, clinic based with no in-patient care. The population of South Ayrshire is approximately 111,560.
CMHT Sessions includes lead role within a given GP catchment area. This includes support from CPN, OT and psychology colleagues. The successful candidate would be expected to offer outpatient clinics, MDT attendance, in-patient role (Woodland View Hospital based in Irvine, Ayrshire) medical support to the crisis team, urgent individual or joint assessments, home visits, mental health act work and adults with incapacity act work as deemed clinically appropriate. The post will be based within Ailsa Hospital, Ayr where the Crisis Team (now known as ICPN), desk duty and all colleagues for South Ayrshire CMHT are also based. Admin support is also based at Ailsa Hospital.
