Specialist Physiotherapist Band 6 /Trainee Annex 21 paragraph 2 (i)

£37,831- £46,100 per annum pro rata

                                                            PERMANENT / Full Time 37.5 hours (part time hours considered)


An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Physiotherapist to join our Learning Disability (LD) service. This post will be based in Dundee, Claverhouse Offices under Dundee Health and Social Care Partnership.  The LD Physiotherapy team consists of 8 staff members including a skill mix of qualified and non qualified staff. 

The caseload comprises of adults with LD and additional complex needs including neuromuscular disorders, neurodiverse disorders, movement and postural disorders.  These complex needs require postural management solutions including sleep systems, postural management strategies, orthotics and wheelchair support with extended communication to the wider AHP team. 

Applicants should have relevant experience working as a Physiotherapist from a wide range of clinical areas and possess good communication and decision making skills and have a positive approach to multidisciplinary team working.  We also offer rebound therapy and hydrotherapy and previous experience of these will be advantageous.

You will work as part of a multidisciplinary and integrated learning disability team which includes specialist nurses, occupational therapists, clinical psychologists, psychiatrists and speech and language therapists and social workers/care managers. Advice and education to clients and their parents, carers and support staff is a key part of this post.

There is also an emphasis on service development and project work. You should be educated to Degree or Diploma within Physiotherapy with an interest in working within the Learning Disability field, and you should hold registration with HCPC. You should be an excellent communicator, and have a desire to work within a community setting.

This post will also be considered as a training position under Annex 21 (Para 2 (i) of the Agenda for Change terms & conditions for applicants with post-graduate clinical experience in Physiotherapy practice who are looking to develop into a specialist position.

These candidates if successful will start in post as a Band 5 (with salary scale £30,229 - £37,664 per annum) and be required to complete Specialist in house and specialist academic courses, professional supervision and clinical practice supervision prior to progression to Band 6.

This is a permanent full time 37.5 hours post however consideration will be given to part time working; between Monday to Friday. This post requires membership of Disclosure Scotland’s PVG Scheme.
