PrePare provide a service offering specialist substance use assessment, treatment, care and advice to a caseload of women and their families who are using drugs and alcohol throughout their pregnancies. We offer this support throughout pregnancy and up to 2 years post-partum. We offer medical treatments such as detox and prescribing but also a psychosocial approach. We provide specialist training, consultancy and advice to promote and co-ordinate care between services/agencies involved in providing care for women using substances. These include CMHT, in-patient mental health and general hospital services, non-statutory services, social work teams, GPs, midwives, prison services and local substance use services. There is a particular emphasis on child protection throughout the service and in the work we do. We deliver high quality care and communicate effectively with other relevant professionals and we participate in key decision making processes with our patients.
