Job Advert
NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Orthopaedic Department for Senior Health Care Support Workers to run our AEC Department.
Orthopaedic experience is not essential as training and support will be provided. We are looking for someone who is motivated and enthusiastic and keen to join a hardworking and friendly team.
Our AEC department is exceptionally busy and is used as an assessment area for patients who have suffered minor trauma and require to attend for surgery.
You will be responsible for the clerking of patients pre-operatively, ensuring all required swabs obtained and sent, recording NEWS prior to theatre and be competent in Venepuncture, Cannulation and ECG's.
Training can be given on commencement of the post so these skills are not compulsory in order to apply.
Liaising with the medical and bed management teams will also be a daily requirement. You will also be required to assist the SCN and team with the ordering of supplies to ensure the ward is adequately stocked.
