NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. The shift pattern is Monday-Friday 08.30-14.30 (30 hours).
To provide secretarial and administrative support to Consultant Surgeons. To act as a focal point for the provision of help and advice to staff members, patients and professionals in relation to service enquiries and to co-ordinate the patient’s pathway.
The post of medical secretary requires the following to provide an efficient and effective service:
Essential
1. NHS Waiting list experience.
2. Advanced keyboard skills and knowledge of audio typing systems
3. Good knowledge of medical terminology
4. Proven proficiency in English.
5. To have the ability to work independently and use your own initiative
6. To have the ability to organise and prioritise workload
7. To have the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of professionals
Desirable
1. Awareness of Trust Policies and Procedures
2. Knowledge of a range of patient administration systems
