An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Department of Spiritual Care for an experienced Support Officer who will be based within the NHS Tayside Community Listening Service. The post is based within the Ardler Clinic, Dundee.
The Community Listening Service provides a dedicated listening service across Tayside, and works closely with General Practices, Health & Social Care Partnerships and Third Sector Organisations. This post provides an exciting opportunity to develop new knowledge and skills.
The successful applicant should have excellent communication skills, an administration background and proven ability to provide high quality administrative support.
Day to day, the role will involve:
- Being the initial contact for the Listening Service
- Receiving referrals from patients, NHS staff and other external organisations
- Booking appointments
- Distributing these appointments to the team of volunteer and staff listeners as appropriate
- Liaising with volunteers on their day to day volunteering, supervision, training, and other meetings
- Arranging venues and consultation rooms for appointments, meetings and training
- Supporting the Listening Service Coordinator in their work e.g. assisting with service evaluations
The role occasionally involves receiving calls from people who are experiencing high levels of distress, the ability to respond confidently, calmly and compassionately is essential.
The role will also involve supporting the wider department in other areas such as assisting in the scheduling of staff support and learning workshops with the staff support chaplains, but the main source of work will be from the Listening Service.
You will be required to achieve the mandatory Induction standards for Healthcare Support Workers in Scotland and to comply with the Code of Conduct throughout your employment.
