This is an exciting opportunity to join Public Health Scotland and to help improve the health and wellbeing of the people of Scotland as a senior manager leading the Information Governance area within the Data & Digital Innovation Directorate (DDI) of Public Health Scotland.
DDI provides strong public sector health care insight and support for Scottish Government, NHSScotland and wider sectors by bringing together public health expertise, statisticians, epidemiologists, information & intelligence and knowledge management experts.
Service Managers have management responsibility for up to 30 staff at any one time, across multiple project teams and responsibility for a budget of up to £1m, and will be part of the senior management team with Directorate-wide operational and strategic responsibilities.
We have a permanent opportunity to play a key role leading our Information Governance area comprising the teams who manage Freedom of Information and Records Management, Data Protection, and the Public Benefit and Privacy Panel for Health and Social Care. The Service Manager will provide leadership to the teams in this area and will support the PHS Data Protection Officer to fulfil their legal and regulatory responsibilities.
We are looking for individuals with demonstrable experience and skills in:
• Information governance, including records management and/or data protection in a health data setting.
• Managing up to 30 staff at any one time, across multiple project teams and responsibility for a budget of up to £1m.
• Determining the strategic direction for a team or service area including business planning and identifying long-term workforce development requirements.
• Engaging with stakeholders, customers and staff promoting specialist services, providing expert interpretation, professional and statistical/information governance advice in order to make more innovative use of Scotland’s health data.
Location and Working Pattern:
Edinburgh or Glasgow, with current work from home arrangements and plans for ‘hybrid’ working
Monday to Friday – During times of public health emergency, or other urgent business need, you may be required on a temporary basis to work your normal contracted working hours over 7 days including weekends, in order to meet the needs of the service.
It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with PHS.
