Cook / Chef
AfC Band 3 £25,468- £27,486 (pro rata) plus a High Secure Environmental Allowance of £1,591 per annum (pro rata)
1x Hours 37.5 hours per week (2 week shift pattern week 1- 06:30-14:30 / week 2- 09:00-17:00 every second weekend with 1 week day off )
Contract Duration – Permanent
A vacancy has arisen for a full time cook / chef within The State Hospital. Duties will include:
To produce meals and snacks for both patients and hospital staff using traditional production methods, without direct supervision (approximately 500 meals per day). Ensuring that security procedures are followed at all times,
To support the hospitals aim to provide high quality nutritious food service to both patients and staff and produce meals that will meet the needs of all patients including those on “special/therapeutic” or religious/ethnic diets.
To produce food in a safe manner following all current legislation and following the departmental Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) system. This includes the regular recording of refrigerator, freezer and food transportation trolley temperatures.
To work in conjunction with various facilities staff and the Hospital’s State Registered Dietitian to ensure that service user’s meals meet their nutritional requirements and are of the quality required. This will include the preparation of Therapeutic Diets.
Conduct a comprehensive training programme for all new starts and existing Catering staff on all areas of the service.
You will have good communications skills, be enthusiastic and self-motivated. You shall be required to be discreet and courteous.
