Consultant only if applicable:
Applicants must have full GMC Registration, a license to practise and eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from the date of interview. CESR (Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration) route doctors are only eligible to apply for a substantive consultant post once CESR is awarded. Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.
Applications are welcome for the above permanent full time (40 hours per week) post based in Royal Hospital for Child & Young People
The permanent post has arisen due to an upcoming retirement. The RHCYP endocrine team deliver a Lothian wide, in-patient, outpatient service and tertiary level support. General endocrine and subspecialist clinics are delivered weekly. A regional ‘outreach’ endocrine service performed jointly with local link paediatricians with an interest in endocrinology in NHS Borders, Highland, Tayside, Fife and Dumfries and Galloway. The Endocrine Service is multidisciplinary in nature and brings together specialist medical, nursing, dietetic, psychology, biochemistry, and pharmacy support.
License to practice. MRCPCH or equivalent. On or eligible for the specialist register in paediatrics (diabetes and endocrinology) or within six months of being eligible at the time of interview. Child protection – Level 3 equivalent. Appropriate advanced life support certification
This appointment will support a 1 in 6 consultant of the week (CoW) model. It is envisaged that there will be equal contribution to the endocrine and diabetes service, adolescent and paediatric diabetes clinics, outreach clinics, and provision of email and telephone support.
