The shift pattern is 12 hour shifts covering 24 hours, 7 days a week (37.5 hours).

There are a number of exciting positions that have arisen within the Theatre and Anesthetic departments in the North Sector of GG&C. These are both within Theatre, anesthetic and recovery nursing posts with an opportunity to become dual trained in these areas. You will work within a team of over 320 staff members and 28 theatres including 2 emergency theatres that run 24/7.

The sites are primarily in Glasgow Royal Infirmary, voted the Best Hospital in Scotland (in top 200 worldwide) and Stobhill ACH Hospital with outreach services to the Golden Jubilee Hospital. All hospitals part of Glasgow Universities placements. Experienced and managerial prepared applications are invited to join our enthusiastic and innovative team within the Theatre and Anesthetic Team at Stobhill ACH and Glasgow Royal Infirmary. The Theatre Department at Stobhill ACH comprises 6 theatres with 23 theatres at Glasgow Royal Infirmary. The activity within these planned and emergency theatres comprise of patients who require complex surgical interventions and care post operatively.

We are seeking motivated individuals with at least 5 years’ experience, ideally Dual trained, who can demonstrate the ability to perform in this pivotal leadership position. There is an expectation in this post that the successful candidate can lead by example and drive improvements in patient Care Assurance and Patient Safety. An expectation is to be clinically assessing the staff within your placed theatre and ensuring documentation of staff performance and competencies are completed within a time set period.

As you will be responsible with the SCN for the Team ethos and standard of practice of the theatre you will be assigned to and act as the deputy in the absence of the SCN/ Senior ODP Team lead. You will assist in Datix management, rota management, etc. Competent advanced IT and verbal communication is essential. Successful candidates will be offered a supported induction period and the opportunity to develop learning pathways such as relevant Degree/Master modules.

It is also essential you have evidence of continual development, IT skills, good communication skills and enthusiasm for working in a theatre environment. There is also an expectation to rotate within all theatres. As a key leadership team member in these fast paced areas you will require a “can do” approach, an understanding of the current and future demands on the service, the skill and desire to deliver on these requirements and the ability to lead the team to achieve success.
