The Bladder and Bowel Service (BABS) currently offers advice and guidance to all areas within Fife that support patients with bladder and/ or bowel dysfunction. In addition the service also provides continence training and support for health care professionals and for those professionals who assess patients for containment pads.

Incontinence affects all ages and both sexes and people of every social and economic level. It is estimated that 15-30% of people over the age of 60 years have incontinence problems. Women are twice as likely as men to have this condition. Incontinence does increase with age but is not inevitable. It can be treatable and often curable at all ages.

You will play a key role within the Bladder and Bowel service and will provide assistance to others within Fife which includes Care and Nursing Homes; Community Nurse Teams; patients and their families/ carers and assistance in some wards under the supervision of a registered Nurse. The service also provides clinics to offer advice and guidance direct to the patients for Bladder and Bowel Dysfunction, Post prostatectomy patients and Intermittent Catheterisation patients.

In applying for this role, you will have an interest in Bladder and Bowel care and Health promotion. It would be beneficial if you have experience of Bladder and Bowel assessments and catheter care. Excellent communication skills are essential for this role.

Please refer to the job description for more detail around the role, skills and experience required. You should have the support from your current line manager if you wish to apply for a secondment.
