NHS Lothian covers Edinburgh city, East Lothian, Midlothian and West Lothian. We are the second largest health system in NHS Scotland and one of only four teaching Boards. The vision for the Pharmacy & Medicines service is to deliver clinically led, person-centred services to ensure patients across Lothian get the best from their medicines and pharmacy services. We are focussed on creating an environment where each person in the team has the opportunity to flourish, develop and make best use of their skills.
We are seeking an exceptional leader with the influencing and negotiating skills necessary to work collectively with the HSCP Lead Pharmacists to develop, drive forward and implement Lothian wide plans for primary care prescribing quality and efficiency, pharmacotherapy services and pharmaceutical care services delivered by community pharmacy teams.
A key member of NHS Lothian’s Pharmacy Leadership Team (PLT), you will professionally lead the Primary Care Central Pharmacy Services Team and the Community Pharmacy Development Team. You will also oversee the newly emerging work of the Lead Pharmacist – Antivirals. You are expected in this role to represent NHS Lothian at various national meetings and groups (for example SP3AA and PC Leads), and to be influential within the governance committees of NHS Lothian (incl. Pharmacy Core Group and the Area Pharmaceutical Committee).
The post holder will be a UK registered pharmacist with experience in service development, negotiation with a range of stakeholders and experience of delivering training to a range of healthcare professionals. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required. This post requires PVG Scheme Membership/Disclosure Scotland check.
Candidates must have a Master of Pharmacy Degree or equivalent, must be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC), and should have completed a post graduate qualification in pharmacy or be able to demonstrate equivalent competency.
