Various posts with up to full time (37 hours per week) hours available
Fixed Term for 18 months
Band 5 - Salary Range £30,229 - £37,664 per annum (pro rata)
Plus Distant Islands Allowance of £2,256 per annum (pro rata)
And Relocation assistance of £8,000 (pro rata for fixed term posts)
Are you are an experienced Qualified Nurse, who is enthusiastic about your role and wants to make a difference? If so we want you to join us working as part of the nursing team delivering care to the population of Shetland in a primary care and community setting.
NHS Shetland has been afforded funding for a primary care improvement project, so improve access to healthcare across Shetland, to align with the NHS Shetland Clinical and Care Strategy. These posts will support innovative care delivery across primary care, and working may be in a variety of locations, including the patient’s home.
Working across health centres in Shetland you will be able to complete treatment room nursing skills for our population. The role of the Practice Nurse is a key member of the practice team. You should be proactive health engagement, health prevention and health management. Be able to provide comprehensive and personalised care to individuals across their lifespan and are directly accessible by the whole practice population
You will be a qualified nurse preferably with post registration Community or Practice Nursing experience. Please note that current NMC registration is essential for this post.
A commitment to delivering evidenced based care and patient safety is essential. You will work under the direction of the General Practice Nurse within the community nursing team. Being based across community nursing to support Practice Nurses in primary care and the community nursing team when required.
Skills in phlebotomy, ECG, Ear Irrigation, Wound Management, Spirometry, Long Term Condition management would be advantageous but training can be provided. For this post an interest in Respiratory/Asthma/COPD would be advantageous. Full driving license is essential for this post as is a willingness to work autonomously. All these qualities, combined provide a pivotal role within the wider multi-disciplinary practice team which contributes significantly to improving health outcomes and reducing health inequalities.
