Consultant only if applicable:

Applicants must have full GMC Registration, a license to practise and eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from the date of interview. CESR (Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration) route doctors are only eligible to apply for a substantive consultant post once CESR is awarded. Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.  

Applications are welcome for the above Fixed Term, full time (40 hours per week) post based in Edinburgh Royal Infirmary

Applications are invited to apply for the above locum (12 months) position based at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary. The post is available to commence as soon as possible. This post is a full-time (10 PA) locum clinical appointment to augment the current surgical service. The successful applicant will work as part of a team providing general surgical services that includes treatment of benign Upper GI disease and complex hernias, both laparoscopic and open, and other general surgical procedures. The successful applicant will also provide on call and emergency cover for the general/UGI surgical service.

Applicants should have a wide experience in General Surgery including emergency and Trauma surgery and have additional experience in both elective and emergency benign upper gastro-intestinal and laparoscopic surgery. Specialist skills such as diagnostic endoscopy and advanced laparoscopic skills may be supported but are not essential. There will be some time available for outpatient clinics and elective inpatient and day case surgery based at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh with possible outreach elective sessions at St John’s Hospital, Livingston.
