The shift pattern is Day shifts (08:30 – 17:00), backshifts (12:30 – 20:30), Weekends (08:30 – 20:30) and nightshifts (20:30 – 08:30) worked as part of a rolling shift rota (37.5 hours).

Clyde Biochemistry are seeking to recruit an experienced and motivated Senior Specialist Biomedical Scientist to join our team. The department has specialised areas including Electrophoresis, POCT and the provision of services for other sectors and Health Boards. The total annual workload amounts to more than 5 million analyses of almost 100 different tests.
The successful applicant will join a friendly, enthusiastic team of Specialist Biomedical Scientists and support staff and will be responsible providing training and direct supervision to trainees within the department. Candidates therefore should have experience of mentoring both IBMS state registration and specialist portfolios. The department covers a range of specialist areas and candidates would be expected to demonstrate a working knowledge of discipline specific procedures (e.g. Automated Core, electrophoresis).
Registration with the HCPC is mandatory for this post along with a Master of Science degree in Biomedical Science or equivalent qualification or knowledge. Experience in a Band 6 Biomedical Scientist role in Biochemistry is essential as well as skills and knowledge relevant to the role of a senior BMS. It is desirable that you have formal evidence of specialist knowledge of a range of discipline specific procedures and evidence of continuing professional development, for example, a specialist portfolio of development, attendance at specialist courses, training on new instrumentation and learning through reflective practice. It is essential that you can evidence your continuing professional development. You will have effective written, organisational, verbal and effective keyboard/IT skills.
You will be responsible for the provision of a highly specialist technical service within the laboratory. This is a permanent post with full time hours; these hours will be worked on a 24/7 basis, including extended days, nightshifts and weekend work. The department is fully committed to continued professional and personal development and will support the successful applicant in achieving their full potential.
