Applicants must have full GMC Registration, a license to practise and eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from the date of interview. CESR (Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration) route doctors are only eligible to apply for a substantive consultant post once CESR is awarded. Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.
Applications are welcome for the above Permanent, full time (40 hours per week) post based in Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.
The vacancy is for a full-time consultant neonatologist based at the Simpson Centre for Reproductive Health, Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. The neonatal service at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh is a large Level 3 neonatal unit with 7000 births on site. There are a further 2400 births per annum and a Level 1 special care baby unit at the nearby St John’s Hospital, Livingston. Out of hours work is for neonatology only.
The post holder will share in the delivery of the neonatal service and be supported in developing and maintaining a special interest that is of a wider benefit to the service. They will also support the neonatal community team and work with the nursing lead for the community neonatal service on clinical governance, service improvement and data management. This will include liaison with medical paediatrics to develop an integrated triage and follow up pathway for newborn infants.
