Clinical Development Fellow posts
The Clinical Development Fellow posts are available for a Fixed Term Period for one year, or 4, 6, 8 months in Caithness General Hospital working above FY2 level.
These posts will afford successful applicants the opportunity to develop your skills as a true generalist. You would be part of a small friendly and eclectic team of physicians, rural emergency physicians, surgeons and anaesthetists delivering high quality care from our rural general hospital in the far North of Scotland. We now have permanently employed doctors commuting by planes, trains, automobiles and boats from London to Orkney. We train, we teach, we innovate and we take joy in delivering a high quality service in a remote and rural area and in supporting each other to do so. There are opportunities to join a number of research projects, to develop teaching programs and to find solutions to the challenges of practising medicine in a rural location. It is a deeply satisfying environment to work in and you will develop your skills and ability to work as part of a small dynamic team.
For informal enquiries please contact the Associate Clinical Lead: Dr Emma Woolfenden
Successful candidates will be contracted for up to 48 hours per week - 36 hours per week including out-of-hours commitment on average undertaking clinical activities; 8-12 hours per week on average will be protected for developmental activities. The post holder will be paid at ST level based on their previous experience. A banding supplement relevant to the OOH component of their rotas will be paid in addition to the basic salary for 40 hours.
Clinical Fellow posts

These posts will not attract training recognition from the Post Graduate Dean; however, you will work alongside and receive similar experience to those on the training programme. These posts are also for 48 hours per week but without the development time mentioned above enabling the applicant to pursue more clinical work.
Your appointment will be subject to the Terms and Conditions of Service of Hospital Medical and Dental Staff and Doctors and Dentists in Public Health Medicine and the Community Health Service (Scotland).
