Position

An opportunity has arisen for a 6 month secondment or fixed term band 6 post as Practice Development Facilitator – Cancer based at University Hospital Crosshouse. 

What you will do:

The purpose of the job is to support the Macmillan Practice Development Facilitator / Lead SACT nurse to enable clinical practitioners to improve patient care throughout the patient journey in cancer through a continuous, participatory process of skilled facilitation, challenge and reflective practice. You will be responsible for providing education and ensuring governance processes are adhered to and monitored, this will include for example: SACT, SACT governance, Acute Oncology and Central Venous Access Devices.  You will also be supported to review and update existing guidelines and processes.  You will work closely with senior nurses and allied health professionals, as well as clinical nurses.

Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:

As well as being a registered nurse with current NMC registration, you will have specialist knowledge of oncology, haematology and Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapies Services.

Attention to detail, strong organisational and communication skills, good IT skills and a methodical approach are key requirements along with a proven ability to work as part of a team.

Driving Licence/Car Ownership:

Although the post is based at University Hospital Crosshouse, you will be required to travel throughout NHS Ayrshire & Arran, therefore a current driving licence is essential.
