NHS Glasgow Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is the largest health system and teaching Board in Scotland with an annual budget of circa £4.2 billion (2023/24) it employs around 41,000 staff. We provide the full range of Acute, Mental Health, Community and Primary Care services to a diverse population of 1.2 million people in six local authority areas. Regional and national services are also provided across a range of clinical specialties.

We are now looking to appoint a forward-looking and innovative individual, able to act as Depute to the Director of Planning, to join the Corporate Planning leadership team. The role will involve directing and developing the planning team, supporting the organisation’s remobilisation process and helping to shape, plan and deliver the transformational change programme arrangements of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.

This is an excellent opportunity for the post holder to develop and implement plans on a cross system basis for significant service redesign, high profile capital projects and service transformation programmes in line with the NHSGGC Clinical Strategy and the Remobilisation Plan. The post holder will lead significant pieces of work and attend Board committees and leadership groups as required.                                                                               

Providing a high level expertise and understanding of strategic planning and service modernisation a key focus of the role will be to build strong relationships with senior clinicians and managers in NHSGGC, other NHS Boards and Health and Social Care Partnerships.  An appreciation of the co-dependencies across the health and care system and the ability to prioritise and direct the work of the planning team will be essential.

The post holder will play a key role supporting the Director of Planning and the Corporate Team in the development of the strategic vision for the organisation.

As a recognised subject matter expert within the field of modernisation you will bring extensive specialist knowledge and experience of service transformation in relation to Health and Social Care and stimulate innovation for the provision of health services in the future.

This is high profile opportunity requires resilience, political acumen, strategic vision, tactical skills, and above all, leadership that will impact internally and externally to the organisation. Educated to Master's Degree level (or equivalent) you should be able to demonstrate extensive experience of successfully managing strategic improvement, change and development within and across complex scenarios.
