The Role

The post holder will take a lead role in the clinical and strategic development of the TESS service and wider NHS Lanarkshire Eating Disorder pathway.  They will work to ensure the delivery of a psychologically informed, clinically effective, and high quality service for people with eating disorders and their families/loved ones.  There will be a significant leadership component to the post which will include clinical and strategic leadership across the team, and professional leadership of the psychological therapists, and operational management of the delivery of psychological interventions within the team. 

TESS is a multi-disciplinary team that provides direct clinical care to people experiencing a severe eating disorder, and their families/loved ones.  Additionally, there is an adapted service pathway for young adults in order to promote early intervention.  A key remit of the service is to provide input to other ties of the NHS Lanarkshire ED pathway via training, consultation and supervision.       

A central part of this Consultant level role will be leading on the strategic vision of the TESS service, in partnership with key stakeholders.  This will involve marrying the application of National (and local) policies and drivers to meet local need.  The post holder will ensure psychologically informed service delivery across the MDT and take a key role in supporting staff development.  There will be considerable scope for innovative service development, focus on quality improvement, and service related research.  They will also carry a clinical caseload appropriate to the demands of the role, alongside the delivery of supervision, consultation, training and coaching. 

The post holder will work in close partnership with the TESS nursing team lead who takes line management responsibility for the staff within the service.

What we'll need you to bring

  • Doctorate in Clinical/Counselling Psychology or equivalent recognised by the British Psychological Society and registered with the HCPC

  • Maintain continuing professional development i.e. formal and informal postgraduate training, additional clinical experience etc. in the context of current British Psychological Society and HCPC guidelines

  • Further postgraduate training in supervision of trainee clinical/ counselling psychologists and Clinical Associates in Applied Psychology

  • Accredited supervisor


It would be great if you also have

  • Post Qualification training/CPD in Leadership

  • Experience in Leadership role within patient / client group setting

  • Expert knowledge of Eating Disorders and related co-morbid conditions

Please note this is a part time post and the salary for this position will be pro-rata.


Location and Working Pattern

This role will be based in Tertiary Eating Disorder Specialist Service within the Buchanan Centre

The working pattern for this rolewill be Monday - Sunday.
