Mental Health Clinical Effectiveness Lead
Band 7 x 2 WTE Posts

The Scottish Ambulance Service Mental Health & Dementia Care Team works to support the ongoing development and delivery of high-quality, mental health care and support by the Scottish Ambulance Service. Two Mental Health Clinical Effectiveness Leads (CEL) will be recruited to support the current workstreams in line with the objectives of the Scottish Ambulance Service’s Mental Health Strategy 2021 – 2027.
Applicants to the position of Mental Health Clinical Effectiveness Lead will be able to demonstrate sound knowledge of the delivery of mental health care in a variety of settings. Candidates will have a background in delivering Psychologically Trauma Informed Care and/or suicide prevention and intervention.

Each post holder will be responsible for leading on a range of work streams, reflecting the aims and ambitions of the Scottish Ambulance Service in relation to mental health care and support for individuals, and communities that access the service.  Examples of current work streams include;

•    Mental health training and education within the organisation, and to students and volunteers
•    National and regional support for front line clinicians in relation to mental health care and support including pathways to onward care
•    Collaborative work with national and territorial NHS Scotland health boards, IJBs, third sector and other emergencies services to optimise care and support for individuals, and communities, in relation to mental health
•    Facilitation of reflective practice for Mental Health Paramedic colleagues within the Mental Health & Dementia Care Team as well as for colleagues in patient facing roles across the service
•     Identification and development of local referral pathways to improve the access to ongoing mental health care for individuals
