We are looking for an inspiring leader and strategic systems thinker who has the ability to earn the confidence and respect necessary to bring about real change and who shares our commitment to improving our acute hospital services across Lanarkshire. You will be an exceptional leader with vision and drive, passion and intellect to lead and manage the Acute Operating Division of NHS Lanarkshire ensuring the effective and efficient delivery of all clinical and non clinical services in line with the Board’s strategic priorities.

Reporting into the Chief Executive, you will be a resilient leader with drive and determination to lead the transformation and reform of Acute Services within the finite resources available to provide sustainable and effective services which meet the needs of our population in a sustainable manner.  Services will be aligned to the principles of Realistic Medicine and will harness innovation and digital opportunities to help manage the capacity demand challenges

You will have a key role to play as a member of the Executive Team to shape, approve and implement the strategic direction, governance, and performance management of the organisation and to fully contribute to and participate in the corporate management and governance of NHS Lanarkshire. You will also contribute to the overall strategic objectives, direction, and performance of NHS Lanarkshire. You will also have the ability to influence thinking locally, regionally and nationally.

To take on this challenge, you must have extensive significant experience in managing complex acute health services including significant experience operating at a senior management/Director level. You will require a high level of interpersonal strategic and technical skills and the stature to earn the confidence and respect required to deliver major change. The role of Director of Acute Services requires an individual who demonstrates a high level of competence in critical leadership behaviours and will be pivotal in leading the NHS Lanarkshire vision to support our healthcare strategy ‘Our Health Together’.
