An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Staff Nurse to join the ECMS – Medical Specialities teams within the Royal Alexandra Hospital. This post is based within ward 10 – Acute Medicine / Diabetes/Endocrinology/haematology.

Ward background

The ward has 30 beds and is fast paced, providing care to patients at varying stages of their care/condition. The main specialties are diabetes, endocrinology and haematology with some general medical patients. The ward has excellent links with the diabetic nurse specialist team and the haemato-oncology service. The ward offers a variety of learning experiences and pride themselves on a high level of patient centred care.

Ward 10 recently included the care of haematology patients into their specialty. We are exploring opportunity for a rotational program with the Beatson Oncology Centre to improve and expand on the staff nurses knowledge of caring for this patient group.

Staff Group & Work Pattern

The team consists of a friendly and caring group of nurses at varying stages of their career and we would welcome applicants of all levels of experience. We are also keen to explore alternative work patterns out with the standard 12 hour rotational shift patterns. There are various hours contracts available.

Roles and responsibilities

The successful candidates will become part of the nursing team who will support the assessment, planning and delivery of specialist care.  You must be able to demonstrate your ability to engage in a positive ward culture and support the clinical team and engage in programmes of care to enhance the patient journey and patient experience contributing towards delivery of positive outcomes using the Excellence in Care framework. You will be responsible to the Senior Charge Nurse and be expected to work on your own merit, be supported by your colleagues and remain engaged in productive team dynamics.  The successful candidate should be innovative and be creative within their organisational role.

Support and development

The Senior Charge Nurse is committed to developing staff at all grades and ensuring access to training and education. The medical wards are supported by our own Clinical Nurse Educator.
