NHS Grampian has an opportunity for a Clinical Fellow (Foundation Year 2 equivalent) within the Neurosurgery team based at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. This post is available from 7th February 2024 until 6th August 2024.
This post does not have educational approval from the Postgraduate Dean and will not be recognised for training although it will provide excellent experience.

Aberdeenshire and Moray boast many picturesque towns and villages within easy commuting distance and provides access to a large range of outdoor pursuits including hill walking and skiing. There are excellent transport links with Glasgow and Edinburgh, it is easily accessed by train and Aberdeen airport has multiple flights to London daily and other destinations across the UK and Europe.
The Neurosurgery service itself covers the Grampian region, Highland and Northern Isles (Orkney and Shetland) with approximately 800,000 catchment population. It has the largest geographical catchment of any UK unit.
The Neuroscience Floor at ARI hosts Neurological and Neurosurgical Services, with 17 Neurosurgery beds in Ward 205, 10 Neurology beds in Ward 204, with a close observation area and a single dedicated Video Telemetry room. Neurophysiology is also located on the same floor as is the Programmed Investigation Unit.
The wards are staffed by medical staff, nurses and paramedical staff who have specialist experience and training in Neurological/Neurosurgical care; (Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Neuro-psychologists, Specialist Nurses) who are all located on the Neuroscience floor.
The post will be based in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
