An exciting opportunity has arisen for a senior registered nurse who is keen to enhance and develop their management, clinical skills and provide education to staff members in a Charge Nurse Position within Ward 5 Victoria Hospital Kirkcaldy. You should be passionate about Ear Nose and Throat and the general surgical patient, have innovative ideas to help further improve our dynamic ward and outpatient department which offers an abundance of learning opportunities and progression in a friendly and supportive environment.
Are you a good leader and role model with sound clinical knowledge of Ear Nose Throat and general surgeries and willing to support all members of the team to provide the highest standard of care to our patients?
Ward 5 consists of a 10 bedded Ear Nose and Throat ward as well as having a designated area for Surgical Short Stay elective patients which also compiles of 10 Elective Surgical Beds and an outpatient clinic area.
Main Duties of the Job:
• You will be professionally accountable for the maintenance of standards and professional practice as set by the NMC Code of Professional Standards of Practice and Behaviour and relevant professional guidelines.
• You will maintain clinical oversight of the ward and OPD and take responsibility for ensuring the coordination and direct provision of high standard of holistic, patient centred care by supporting junior nursing staff to accurately assess nursing care and health
• education needs. They will also support the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care for each patient.
• To demonstrate and facilitate others to develop the necessary skills and experience in the ward/OPD management and provide leadership in the absence of the senior charge nurse.
• To support the development and implementation of audit, quality and risk management initiatives
• To teach and act as a facilitator/ mentor/assessor/preceptor to nursing students and junior nursing staff registered and unregistered.
• To encourage and support the ongoing Professional Development of all members of the departmental team.
• To act as a visible clinical nurse leader and promote team work within a multi-professional environment. Demonstrate critical analysis and decision making skills when undertaking, leading and or supervising the delivery of consistent high quality evidence based care.
