Clinical Team Lead Physiotherapist – Band 7
Western General Hospital, Edinburgh
37.5 hours / Permanent contract
We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, proactive physiotherapist to lead our Respiratory Medicine and CF Physiotherapy team at the Western General Hospital. The Physiotherapy team is embedded within the Respiratory and Cystic Fibrosis multi disciplinary teams.
You will clinically lead and develop the Respiratory Medicine and Cystic Fibrosis Physiotherapy inpatient and outpatient services. You will deliver physiotherapy assessments and treatments to our complex patients with chronic respiratory conditions including Bronchiectasis, COPD and Cystic Fibrosis within Ward 54 - the respiratory and cardiology ward in the Western General Hospital. You will have the responsibility of leading the development of the outpatient respiratory service.
You will operationally lead the CF service which in addition to the inpatient caseload includes a transition clinic for young adults at the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People, multi disciplinary clinics at the WGH, and occasionally provide input to patients within their home setting as well as having the opportunity to contribute to wider Scottish clinics.
You will also be key in helping to develop and lead the oncall and respiratory training for the physiotherapy department in conjunction with the Surgical / Critical care Team Lead
Candidates must display evidence of extensive clinical experience in a variety of acute respiratory in-patient and community areas. Previous experience in CF would be desirable but not essential. An ability to prioritise, assess and treat a wide range of presentations is essential, as is clarity of communication and well-demonstrated organisational skills. Experience of supervision, mentorship and appraisal of other staff members / students is expected, along with evidence of multi disciplinary working. A background in service development with knowledge of QI methodology is required
Candidates must display evidence of excellent clinical reasoning skills within a complex and varied population, and an ability to show advanced prioritisation and discharge planning for a wide range of presentations. .
We are looking for individuals to have experience in service development and Quality Improvement methodology. These skills will be used to support a very proactive team who are involved in various Quality Improvement projects at a uni-professional and multidisciplinary team level
As Physiotherapy team lead you will participate collaboratively with the WGH’s other team leads across a range of organisational and professional topics as required by the service and as delegated from head of service. This will ensure an equitable service is provided across the hospital site. The Physiotherapy service operates a 5 days out of 7 working pattern in which you will participate, including on calls.
The range of conditions and specialities encountered, and requirement for excellence in leadership and team working in this post at the Western General Hospital will allow the successful candidate to gain extensive and in-depth experience as a clinical band 7 physiotherapist.
