Speech and Language Therapy Service (Acute Sector)

Band 3 Health Care Support Worker in Speech and Language Therapy (P/T)

Maternity Cover – fixed term for 11 months

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Health Care Support Worker to join our established and supportive Acute Sector Adult Speech and Language Therapy Team to provide cover for the existing post-holder’s maternity leave.

This is an exciting part-time job opportunity covering 28.5 hours per week.  The current post-holder works these hours over 5 days, but alternative options to configure the hours can be discussed.

The post-holder will support Speech and Language Therapists to work with adults presenting with a range of acquired speech, language, communication and / or eating, drinking and swallowing problems. This will involve a range of tasks from materials preparation to working directly with patients.  The focus for this post will be predominantly in-patients at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, with a specific remit within the Acute Stroke Unit, but other areas will be covered as required.

We are a small, friendly team.  We hold regular meetings and continuing professional development (CPD) sessions. Support and supervision will be available from Speech and Language Therapists within the team.

It is essential that candidates have experience of working in a health or caring environment, and specific experience of working with people with communication difficulties is highly desirable.
