We look forward to recruiting an experienced Clinical Psychologist to assist our development of psychological services for child and adolescent mental health in the Western Isles. We are looking for an enthusiastic person who is ready for the opportunity to lead on aspects of service improvement alongside providing consultation, supervision and support to our growing multidisciplinary team (MDT). Although this post is based within the MDT on Western Isles, it is amenable to remote working with a small proportion of in person contact dependant on clinical need; as agreed with the CAMHS Consultant Clinical Psychologist.
Exciting innovations underway in the Western Isles include developments in Child & Adolescent Mental Health, Neurodevelopmental, Child Intellectual Disabilities and Infant and Perinatal Mental Health. We envisage being able to offer a tailored post to the right individual alongside their delivery of highly specialist psychological assessment and intervention for children, young people and families across the islands. Access to further training and support will be available from our CAMHS Consultant Clinical Psychologist from whom you will have delegated responsibility to lead on aspects of service delivery.
You will have post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology with substantial experience in CAMHs including children and young people with learning disabilities. You should have a track record in effective multi-disciplinary and multi-agency team working as well as experience of training and an understanding of relevant policy and legislation. You will be an integral member of our team and provide clinical leadership in the delivery of psychological therapies alongside other Psychologists within the growing service.
The main working base is currently situated in the town of Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis which is the most northerly of the Western Isles. The Western Isles lie 40 nautical miles off the north-west coast of Scotland and consist of an archipelago of islands peppered by beautiful beaches which stretch from the Butt of Lewis in the north, to the Isle of Barra in the south. They are linked together by a series of causeways, two ferries and an air service.
The main hospital, Western Isles Hospital is a modern 116-bedded general hospital equipped with modern facilities. There is a five-bedded adult Acute Psychiatric Unit. The community hospital in Benbecula caters for the people of the Uists and Barra and you will provide a regular service supporting community and primary care teams there in relation to children and young people who have mental health difficulties, including learning disabilities.
Applicants must be car drivers and in possession of a full UK driving licence.
This post may be eligible for relocation expenses, however these would not be applicable in the case of remote working out with the Western Isles.
The successful applicant will be required to register with the PVG Scheme (Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme).
