Job Advert

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

(Please note the salary is Pro Rata) for part time hours.

An opportunity has arisen for a part-time Band 3 Health Care Support Worker to work within Ward 3, a nurse led 12 bedded post op surgical ward, which is part of the Day Surgery Unit at the New Victoria Hospital.

This post takes part in a rota which covers 24 hours from Monday to Friday, however this is subject to change. Until the covid pandemic, this was a dynamic surgical clinical area with a high turnover of patients. As a Band 3 and part of the multidisciplinary team it is essential that you have good numeracy /literacy skills and experience working with members of the public. Previous experience of working in a clinical environment is essential.

Candidates should have a flexible committed approach and work to a high standard within the multidisciplinary team. You will have the ability to work on your own initiative but also as part of an integrated team and will take a sensitive and caring approach to people. You are required to demonstrate flexibility within your working week and within the south sector. Furthermore, you will be expected where necessary to engage in multi-site working within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde in order to achieve the needs of the service.

Please note that until recently, due to service disruption as a result of the pandemic, the ward had been under the Older Peoples Services. The ward has now been handed back to Surgical, however at present has no patients, while we carry out refurbishments. Ward 3 staff are currently supporting the OPS wards at the New Victoria, in conjunction with a staff training programme to certain surgical specialities for a short period, as we prepare to re-open as a 23 hour stay post-surgery ward.
