Clinical Immunologist

37.5hrs, permanent.
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our Lothian–wide Immunology laboratory service. The Immunology service for Lothian is provided from one main hospital site, the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, providing services to primary and secondary care. The service also provides a range of specialist testing to other regions of Scotland.
You will assist the Head of Specialty in provision of a highly specialist clinical scientific service in Clinical Immunology within NHS Lothian (NHSL) and provide expert analytical, interpretive and clinical advice to medical, nursing and other laboratory staff in the acute and primary care divisions on the investigation, diagnosis and treatment of patients.
This is a Lothian wide post, initially based at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. You will input clinical and scientific leadership into sub-divisions of the specialty. You will have overall responsibility for provision and management of a broad range of complex, specialised scientific investigations, demanding highly skilled performance and individual responsibility in this specialist area and undertake research, development and training within a specialist field of Clinical Immunology, work autonomously within professional guidelines and may deputise for the Head of Specialty.
Applications are invited from dynamic individuals with a proven scientific and professional record and the enthusiasm to work as part of a team. You should be a HCPC registered Clinical Scientist, hold an appropriate MSc in Immunology or a PhD in a relevant field. Applicants with full membership of the Royal College of Pathologists or working towards full membership having successfully completed part 1 of the examination are eligible to apply.
