NHS Lothian covers Edinburgh city, East Lothian, Midlothian and West Lothian. We are the second largest health system in NHS Scotland and one of only four teaching Boards. We have strategic partnerships with local Universities, Local Authorities and our four Integration Joint Boards. We serve a population of 900,000, providing a range of primary, community based and acute hospital services. We also provide regional and national services across a range of clinical specialties.
The vision for the Pharmacy & Medicines service is to deliver clinically led, person-centered services to ensure patients across Lothian get the best from their medicines and pharmacy services. We are focused on creating an environment where each person in the team has the opportunity to flourish, develop and make best use of their skills.
The NHS Lothian pharmacy clinical trials service is integral to the delivery of a broad research portfolio across the main hospital sites in a wide variety of clinical indications.
This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated, forward thinking and highly motivated pharmacist to join our established pharmacy clinical trials team to support the expansion of the clinical trials portfolio. Our clinical trials pharmacists are integral to the multidisciplinary research and hospital pharmacy teams and are highly valued to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of investigational medicines to patients participating in clinical trials.
Applicants should demonstrate an interest in research and must have excellent communication and organisational skills as well as the ability to deliver a service whilst also working to deadlines. They must be able to work independently as well as being able to work effectively as part of a team.
Candidates must have a Master degree in pharmacy or equivalent, must be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC), and should have completed the NES Post - Registration Pharmacist Foundation Programme or documented evidence of equivalent competency.
The job will require travel across hospital sites in NHS Lothian with a main base at the Western General Hospital and includes participation in the weekend and public holiday rotas.
There will be an opportunity to undertake a regular clinical commitment within an appropriate clinical speciality, providing high quality pharmaceutical care and utilising independent prescribing skills if applicable. Hybrid methods of working between the office and from home can be supported if desired.
