We are looking for a new Head of Nursing for National Elective Services with the skills to both inspire and deliver as we seek to bring the very best patient care across our full portfolio of services. The role of Head of Nursing requires a clinically credible practitioner with extensive nursing experience with contemporary clinical leadership and management experience. You will be able to role model compassionate, collaborative leadership with a strong commitment to supporting and developing others.
This senior nursing position provides an opportunity to join NHS Golden Jubilee at an exciting time as it is in the process of delivering an ambitious plan of growth, with significant investment in the expansion of elective services to support NHS Scotland meet the predicted demand between now and 2035. Phase 1 State of the art Eye centre opened in 2021, with Phase 2 due to open spring in 2024. This will provide a significant expansion of our main theatre suite including:
- 6 Cataract Theatres
- 5 additional orthopaedic theatres and improved staff and support facilities
- A new purpose built surgical admissions and recovery unit
- A new purpose built endoscopy unit
- A new purpose built Endoscopy Decontamination Unit and CSPD
The HoN will be integral to the delivery of this expansion project whilst ensuring that existing services have strong clinical and professional leadership. The post holder will be a key contributor in the delivery of safe, effective and person centred, compassionate care. Key to your success will be your ability to develop and maintain constructive relationships with a wide range of clinical and non-clinical staff across NHS GJ. Integral to this role will be providing professional leadership, management and advice to our nursing staff and other colleagues within the Division and to the wider hospital.
Candidates will require to have a proven track record accompanied with experience in a senior professional nurse leadership role. You will have successful experience of managing patient safety, service improvement and quality. High level clinical and leadership credibility is a pre-requisite as are excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to think strategically and analytically, good influencing and negotiation skills alongside the ability to support quality improvement leading and change.
Candidates must hold current registration as a Nurse with the UK NMC and be educated to degree level with evidence of postgraduate study, preferably a Masters qualification(or equivalent).
