The Post:
As a major division within the NHS National Services Scotland, the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS) plays a vital role not only in the health of the people of Scotland but also on an international scale – through our leading position in new product development, biomedical research and donor services. Our goal is to maintain the highest standards to patient care whilst remaining internationally competitive.
An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen within the Clinical Laboratories in Inverness for 1 x BMS2. Applications are invited from suitably qualified HCPC registered Biomedical Scientists demonstrating continual professional development.
The Candidate:
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with excellent interpersonal skills with responsibilities to supervise and manage the day-to-day activities, while supporting the Laboratory Manager to maintain and develop the Patient Services Laboratories. These posts will include an additional responsibility such as Compliance, validation or IT role for the Inverness site.
Applicants for the post must have attained an Honours Degree in Biomedical Science or equivalent, acceptable to the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and have retained registration with that body. A BMS2 should have further qualifications such as an MSc or significant demonstrable experience in a relevant field of work.
The successful candidate will be required to undergo a PVG Scheme/Disclosure Scotland check. Any candidate who has lived/worked overseas for more than 12 months in the preceding 5 years will also be required to provide a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency.
Candidates must have current HCPC registration at the time of applying.
Location and Working Pattern:
Inverness Blood Transfusion Centre
The work pattern is on 24/7 roster, 37.5 hours per week.
It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with NSS.
