The Role
NHS Lanarkshire is seeking a highly skilled and experienced pharmacist to fulfill the vital role of Director of Pharmacy. This position plays a pivotal role in providing expert advice and support to the Board, its committees, its Health & Social Care Partnerships, and to health and social care professionals to facilitate informed decision-making. The successful candidate will undertake the responsibilities of the Chief Pharmacist for NHS Lanarkshire, as defined in the Pharmacy (Preparation and Dispensing Errors – Hospital and Other Pharmacy Services) Order 2022 and the Medicines Act 1968, and will be the Board’s Accountable Officer – Controlled Drugs, as defined in the UK Health Act 2006 and The Controlled Drugs (Supervision of Management and Use) Regulations 2006.
The Director of Pharmacy will assume responsibility for both the strategic and operational planning and leadership of pharmacy services, collaborating across NHS Lanarkshire and its Health and Social Care Partnerships to ensure the delivery of agreed standards of pharmaceutical care, maintaining safety, effectiveness, and resource and service efficiency. Strong team-working and interpersonal skills are essential, coupled with the ability to provide professional leadership to drive service innovation and development to ensure our service's continued success and adaptability in response to the evolving health and care landscape.

What we'll need you to bring
- Masters of Pharmacy Degree
- Registered Pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council
- Post Graduate Masters Degree in Clinical Pharmacy or Management.
- Significant senior management experience within a recognised area of pharmacy practice. This to include management of staff, resources and budgets etc.
- Leadership skills to assure achievement of recovery and modernisation agendas.
- Leadership skills and ability to influence at all levels using self-management ability and analytical, prioritisation and judgement skills in order to influence pharmacy educational services.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills to address highly difficult and complex issues This may involve persuasive, motivational, negotiating and training skills in order to provide, receive and present potentially complex, contentious issues in relation to practice developments.
