An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic qualified part time clinical photographer to join our Medical Illustration team in NHS Highland, working 3 days out of 7 per week from Wed-Sun. 

The department is based at Raigmore Hospital, Inverness but provides a multi-skilled photographic, art and graphic service to all Healthcare staff employed in the Highlands and outside the health service where appropriate. A full driving licence would be desirable since occasionally required to work in locations outside of Raigmore Hospital. You will be a talented photographer, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, be patient focused and have advanced knowledge of relevant software including Adobe Creative Cloud. 

Candidates will have a BSc in Medical Illustration or relevant photography degree & Post Graduate Diploma or Certificate in Clinical Photography and be on the national Academy of Healthcare Science (AHCS) register. A portfolio of recent work is expected to be submitted to demonstrate your range of photographic skills. An Annex 21 trainee position may be available for suitable candidates with an appropriate degree in photography. A trainee would be expected to undertake a one year, distance learning, post-graduate certificate in clinical photography in order to qualify for the AHCS register. 

For trainees covered by Annex 21 where the period of training lasts for between one and four
years, pay will be as follows:
• up to 12 months prior to completion of training: 75 per cent of the pay band maximum of
the fully qualified rate;
• more than one but less than two years prior to completion of training: 70 per cent of the
pay band maximum of the fully qualified rate;
• more than two but less than three years prior to completion of training: 65 per cent of the
pay band maximum of the fully qualified rate.
• more than three years from completion of training: 60 per cent of the pay band maximum
of the fully qualified rate.


All applicants must register with the PVG Scheme and have a PVG certificate in place before a start date can be given.
