NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.
The shift pattern is Monday-Friday 08.00-16.00 (37.5 hours).
To develop, implement and evaluate education to all trained nurses, operating department practitioners (ODPs) and health care workers within the highly specialised area of Theatres and Recovery. This includes more than 8 vastly different theatre specialties. The candidate must have expert knowledge of the 2 different streams of education (nursing and ODP) from which we employ staff for this highly specialised area.
To advise, support and give direction to all trained nurses, ODPs and health care workers on educational and clinical issues.
To promote, enhance and maintain the quality of evidence based learning to all clinical staff to ensure the provision of an excellent standard of care.
To support and facilitate quality improvement strategies as per NHS Scotland and NHSGGC current quality strategy.
In a corporate role, working with other educators, support generic education within the Division.
Qualifications and experience
- First level Child Branch or equivalent with first degree or evidence of continuing professional development equivalent to level 9 of Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF) as a minimum.
- Post holder must have a minimum of 5 years post registration experience within relevant area and/or demonstrate expert clinical and professional practice developed through experience and theoretical knowledge.
- Ability to maintain professional and personal credibility across all staff groups.
- Ability to lead teams, lead practice and continuous professional development, work effectively as part of a multi-professional / multi-agency team.
- Personal motivation and enthusiasm for the development of nursing, patient care and the enhancement of the patients experience of care
- Computer and information literacy
- Successfully have completed the Cleanliness Champions Programme
- Post graduate Cert in Education or working towards equivalent is highly desirable
- Post grad Masters degree in relevant discipline is desirable.
