NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.
The shift pattern is Monday-Friday 09.00-17.00.
Infrastructure Technical Services are provided across three distinct service areas detailed below and this technical specialist role is within the Microsoft Infrastructure & Security (MIS) team although tasks can span across all infrastructure teams and the technical specialist will be required to take a lead role in both support and project work.
Windows serves, virtualisation and storage.
Active Directory & Device Management.
Desktop management & Application Provision
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate experience in service provision to a detailed technical level utilising the group of technologies listed below and be able to lead on providing solutions to complex issues and have the ability to provide lead technical guidance on projects, changes and upgraded to the services.
Tens of thousands of users and devices are managed via Active Directory and Microsoft Networking services (DNS/DHCP). Additional management tools are used for patching, encryption, endpoint protection, AD disaster recovery and archiving.
· Analyse, design, implement and support the hybrid on-prem and cloud Active Directory environment and Azure Active Directory/Entra ID
· Sound understanding of Group Policy Management, DNS, DHCP.
· Experience of working with SCCM and Intune in a co-management environment including package creation and deployment, windows patching, OS Deployment, Configuration Profiles etc.
· Experience of working with Defender for Endpoint, Trellix/McAfee Endpoint Protection Software or similar.
· Scripting Experience (Powershell, VBS, BAT etc)
· Investigative software such as ProcMon and similar tools monitoring at the O/S level
The successful candidate should also have the following behavioural competencies:
· Able to resolve complex problems working in a high pressure situation
· Able to communicate clearly about technical equipment and problems with non-technical users.
· Work closely with other Infrastructure staff and 3rd parties and collaborate with project teams
· Able to represent the team at meetings involving senior infrastructure managers and non eHealth staff
· Exposure to IT within the Health Service would be advantageous
