Clinical Lead for Huntington's Disease Service

NHS Lanarkshire (Currently Hunter Health Centre, East Kilbride) (4PA's)

Fixed Term (1 year)

We welcome applications for the Clinical Lead for NHS Lanarkshire’s Huntington’s Disease Service.  This post is offered at 4 PAs, and the option for a job share will also be considered. This post is open to Consultants only. The successful candidate will provide medical support and clinical leadership to a well-established community team provided and funded by the Scottish Huntington’s Association. The successful candidate(s) will provide clinical leadership in the assessment and management of patients with Huntington’s disease and support non-medical colleagues in a consultative role.  The consultant will provided consultative cover for inpatients who will be managed by their respective sector teams. This is a very rewarding post which with much collegial interaction through SHA and UK HD Network.

Clinical leads for the HD service can be Psychiatrists, Neurologists, Palliative care physicians or those with an interest in Movement disorders, and as stated above, a shared approach to leading this service in NHS Lanarkshire will be considered from interested parties.

The successful candidate(s) will be well supported by an enthusiastic and experienced team.  There will be regular peer support, developmental and educational meetings. The service prides itself on providing person centred care and working collaboratively with families and other agencies. If interested, there are additional opportunities for service development, teaching and training, and research which will be supported. The consultant would be expected to act as Principal Investigator for Enroll-HD study and to be involved in other research studies.
