The Dermatology Service is based at Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary. We are primarily an Outpatient based specialty. We provide outreach One Stop clinics at the Galloway Hospital, Stranraer and at Newton Stewart Health Centre. The post holder will be based at the Infirmary but may be asked to undertake clinics in our peripheral clinics.

We have strong established links with the South East Scotland Cancer Network (SCAN). We link up weekly to the Regional Skin Cancer Multidisciplinary Meetings (MDM). We work collaboratively and have strong established relationships with our Maxillo-Facial, Histopathology and General Surgical Team. There is no out-of-hours Dermatology Service.

The successful applicant will join a team which consist of a full time consultant, a part time locum consultant, a dedicated nursing team (Lead Nurse in Dermatology, 1 Specialist Nurse and 2 Staff nurse) and secretarial team based at the Infirmary.

The post holder is expected to undertake 3-4 clinics per week which consist of General and Skin Cancer One Stop clinics. The clinics are a combination of children and adult patients. The job plan is negotiable and will be agreed between the successful applicant and the Clinical Service Lead.

Multi-disciplinary team work is envisaged as a key component of the working of this Trust and will involve Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) discussion with other colleagues.

The post holder will work closely with colleagues in delivering and developing services locally. With the support of senior staff, the successful candidate will be expected to organise their workload.
