NHS Tayside has been at the forefront of the development of the General Practice Pharmacy role since 1997.The service has evolved over the years to become well established, person centred and maximises the skills of the professional pharmacy teams.  The NHS Tayside Locality Pharmacy Service is progressing well towards meeting the aspirations of Achieving Excellence in Pharmaceutical Care and the pharmacotherapy services outlined in the 2018 General Medical Services contract.

The development of the team of locality pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in NHS Tayside recognises the valuable contribution that each profession brings to the delivery of high quality patient care.

We are a friendly and sociable, forward thinking team with excellent peer support networks across Tayside and Scotland, including prescribing support and medicines information networks and excellent links with pharmacists working within specialist clinical pharmacy areas. Team members are encouraged to develop their clinical skills.

The role is community based and involves working in a range of environments such as GP practices, care homes and patients own homes.  The emphasis is on high quality, patient facing, pharmaceutical care.

As a band 6 you will be supported to complete the NES Foundation Training program for Primary Care in preparation for the transition to band 7. Your time will primarily be spent in GP practices with the opportunity to gain experience of delivering services in community hospitals.

Hours of work are:

37.5 hours over 5 days.  Part time applicants will be considered.
